Hepatitis C ENEMY :Avoid Alcohol
American Liver Foundation States that alcohol can damage or destroy cells. Liver damage can lead to the buildup of Fat in your Liver (Fatty Liver), inflammation or swelling of your Liver (Alcoholic Hepatitis), and/or scarring of your Liver (Cirrhosis). Fr people with liver disease, even a small amount of alcohol can make the disease worse. A good analogy a doctor told me was to think of hepatitis as a smoldering fire. Alcohol is like gasoline. Don’t throw gasoline on fire. It’s not worth it.
Hepatitis C ENEMY : RAW Fish
If you have hepatitis C, skip the Sushi bar at Japanese restaurants and the Oyster bar at seafood restaurants to avoid potential food-borne illnesses. In fact, you'll want to be careful about all raw seafood, says Graham, because developing a bacterial infection from raw seafood can worsen your hepatitis C. She says it’s also wise to avoid unpasteurized milk and cheese for the same reason.
Hepatitis C Enemy : Liver Iron
Liver, the food, is extremely high in Iron can cause an Enlarged Liver, Liver Failure, Liver Cancer or Cirrhosis and these risk may be heightened when you’re living with hepatitis C. Stay away from food that are extremely high in iron, such as liver, as well as iron supplements. Leafy green vegetables are okay because they tend to have much less iron than liver (not to mention they have a host of other great Vitamins and Minerals).
Hepatitis C Enemy : Salt
Salt can promote fluid retention, which is a symptom of progressive hepatitis C ,’’It’s not just salt from the shaker that you want to avoid – processed food like frozen meals and bakes goods are also loaded with Sodium, If you have early stages of hepatitis C, a little sodium is okay, but when the disease is advanced, it’s a good idea to stay away from any added salt. You must talk with your Doctor to find how much salt you can safely consume.
